Leadership is the creation of framework conditions and relationships in which individuals, teams or groups are enabled to make their optimal contribution to corporate goals. Because people always decide for themselves whether or not to give their best, with or without pressure.
If you take a critical look at traditional coaching and training for managers – you quickly realize that it teaches the rolling out of decisions and the principle of strict instructions and obedience. This implies that every instruction, provided sufficiently energetic and well thought out, must lead to success. On the one hand, this approach requires the constant presence of leadership or management to maintain pressure, and on the other hand, it significantly limits the range of quality of a decision.
That’s why, in contrast to traditional training and coaching, sustainable leadership development aims to shape framework conditions and relationships. Concentrating on clarity and effective communication about goals, tasks, roles and framework conditions. The better this succeeds, the more effectively and independently employees can decide in the interests of the company and thus strengthen the whole organization – even when their managers are not present.
Leadership development is therefore primarily about working on attitude. But it also includes one’s own experience, practical application and organization and support of an intelligent organizational design, adapted to the respective business.
