About me and my way of working

Good work requires good relationships

As an engineer, I have “measuring” and “optimizing” in my DNA. However – or precisely because of this – my job is always about people, their working environment and the ensuing connections and results. This has proven itself over the past 25 years in my experience as an engineer and leader in complex projects, as a systemic organizational consultant and coach.

It’s important to implement things quickly, keep a close eye on the results and continuously learn from new experiences and insights.

My training as a systemic organizational consultant, combined with my work in many exciting interdisciplinary and international projects, has certainly helped me to internalize this integrated approach and develop a feel for it. Because good work requires good relationships!

This starts with not seeing good relationships as a nice addition to good work, but as the fundamental basis for efficient, professional focus. If you have to spend your day playing politics and power games, you won’t progress professionally or in terms of adding value. Conversely, reliable and trusting relationships make it possible to solve highly complex challenges. This involves appreciation, respect, a culture of error, basic trust and cooperation on an equal footing.

This recipe for success applies to projects as well as strategy development, process development or innovation management.

"Measurably better results and fun at work are not mutually exclusive – on the contrary!

When I am asked what drives me, this guiding principle describes both my methods and my personal motivation.Alexander Joedecke

What makes the difference

In the technology engineering environment, it’s very difficult to organize the opportunity to talk about communication and the potential of psychosocial processes. Experiencing for yourself that participatory leadership or an open culture of error leads to measurably better and more results has often been a turning point. The key is your own experience, self-efficacy and promoting personal responsibility. For me, developing all of this well is a craft and social art – to be organized in a way that is compatible.

Methods are often copied and transferred like a template – regardless of the requirement. This can have a short-term effect. Yet experience shows that individual approaches are much more effective and, above all, deliver better long-term results.

Efficiency, fun, results – my combination of engineering DNA with organizational development is a useful approach in many areas, such as in administration or healthcare. Evaluating the situation together – differences become visible, and goal-oriented adaptation directs development.
My way of working is therefore not only suitable for the engineering environment, but wherever people work together.
